Defending Our Liberty: Greenbrier Dem Women May Meeting

Our guest speakers will be Eli Baumwell, Executive Director of the ACLU-WV, and Sam Petsonk, Attorney and Vice Chair of the WV Democratic Party.

Eli started his career with ACLU-WV by working to ensure the state enacted necessary reforms to the juvenile justice system. He served as the organization’s Advocacy Director from 2015 to 2023. In his time at ACLU-WV, Baumwell has, at the state level, worked on expanding voting rights, reforming pretrial detention, restricting government surveillance of citizens, and expanding access to reproductive healthcare. Baumwell is a Cornell University graduate with a juris doctorate and a master’s degree in public and international affairs from the University of Pittsburgh.
